SPAIN -- Alicante
La Bodega de Pinoso began producing wines from organic grapes in 1997 (one of the pioneer wineries in the region to do so). Using organic fertilizer from local organic cattle farming to improve fertility of the soil, they also maintain biodiversity by leaving vegetation to grow spontaneously, to serve as a reservation of auxiliary flora & fauna.
SPAIN -- Castilla
In a privileged spot protected by the Gredos Mountains in the Province of Toledo, this winery blends into the vineyards. Founded in 2005 by José Luis Pérez Agudo (3rd generation of two of the region's most important winery families), its certified-organic philosophy is one of absolute respect for the vines and the grapes. "Only through constant, meticulous & considerate work regarding the natural properties of the grapes, can we achieve these wines' unique personality.
SPAIN -- Penedes
Importer Bob Shack first met Pedro "Cointreau" Freixas while both worked for Remy/Cointreau. Later, Pedro married Nuria Alsina, who inherited her family's Cava business. Being French, Pedro had spent a lot of time in Champagne, and brought his French roots to the table. Their Cava - produced in the traditional method – includes 70 yr old vines, situated quite close to the sea (where they own a farmhouse; hence the name Casas del Mar).
