URUGUAY -- Cerro Chapeu
9 generations in wine (with roots in the Cataluña region of Spain since 1752), the Carrau family - in Uruguay since 1930 - were first to export their wines & in 1973 introduced the idea of using the country's typical grape, Tannat, to make top reserve reds. The Carrau vineyards are located in the highest Environmental Sustainability Index of the world (per a 2005 Yale study).
